Home Ed in London

Education otherwise run a yearly fair for new home educators at Coram Fields.

We started with facebook and the south london mailing group. Plenty of others out there too though:

TRIPS and MEET UPS

Many museums, galleries and educational institutions will take home educating groups for school's activities. Yearly passes can also be obtained with discounts in some places so it's always worth asking  Contact them directly or try these groups to find other's going or to get tips on organising your own:

Outdoor play

Some groups meet up specifically in Parks or outdoor places. We've enjoyed West London Parks group, East London Parks Group, Epping Forest Friday group and also some nature play in Greenwich Oxleas Wood.
There are some fabulous adventure playground groups like AWE (adventures with education), PlayProject at Dog Kennel Hill, Glamis Park in Tower Hamlets (though not running now sadly), Terence Brown Arc in Newham and likely others we've never heard of!

Indoor play

Our preference for indoor groups has been to go to ones with resources or activities (and generally some outside space too) that you can use/do or not and the focus is often unstructured play.

Curious Minds in Wimbledon has been a favourite for a long time.
Nikki O'Rourke who runs the group has a great idea on education for families and is in process of organising her third pilot school.

We also tried and liked:
Free Spirits - Central London Home Education Group

Classes

There are many places to find classes on a particular subject. We haven't used many but did try a couple at Shooters Hill School of Arts. Find their program here.

LAs and partnerships

The following fb groups are useful depending on your situation:
